We are currently looking for a Children’s/Paediatric Complex Care Assistant in the Southampton area of Hampshire. This job is commutable from Southampton Centre (12 mins), Eastleigh (20 mins), Hedge End (13 mins), Winchester (29 mins).
This is a very small, homely residential home for young people aged 10-20 with complex health needs. These complex health needs could be cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, chromosome disorders or life limiting illnesses. The Home also provides support for those with Learning Disabilities and Physical Disabilities. With an Outstanding CQC rating it is not often they have to recruit, they have a very low staff turnover and fantastic long-established team.
You will play a very important part in the daily care and needs of the children you will be supporting. Usually you will become a keyworker to one or two individuals. This will involve fully assisting them in personal care and everyday living skills. All the children within the home have medical conditions and extra equipment that is needed to support them to live a comfortable and healthy life.
What Experience do I need?
If you have prior experience supporting people with complex health needs, physical disabilities or working within a hospital environment this would be useful however full training is provided. You will need to have a compassionate and positive approach to make the most out of each child’s day. Car drivers would be desirable but not essential.
What are the hours, pay rates & Benefits?
- We have full and part time contracted hours available.
- Flexibility to work day shifts 7am-7pm, split shifts 7am till 10am and then 2pm till 10pm and sleep ins (occasional). This is on a set rota.
- The rate of pay is £8.00-£8.50 depending on experience/qualifications (children and young people’s workforce or residential childcare.)
- Excellent training including putting you through your QCF Level 3 - Residential Childcare
