Chief Support Officer

Nielsen Grey is working exclusively with CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) in their search for a Chief Support Officer to be based in St Albans.

The Chief Support Officer (CSO) will be a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the CEO and leading a team of 19 staff across Finance, IT, HR, Events and volunteer support. As a qualified accountant, proven change agent and leader of cross functional teams, the CSO will be instrumental in enabling CAMRA to achieve its commercial and campaigning objectives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Setting strategy, in collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts, across Finance, IT, HR and support services;
  • Development of CAMRA’s financial strategy, annual budget and business plans, ensuring effective management systems are in place to track delivery;
  • Oversight of the organisation's risk management strategy and processes, as well as company secretarial support;
  • Management of a number of key projects including the implementation of a new accounting system, a significant property project, a key governance review and establishing a new set of logistics processes.

The ideal candidate would be a qualified accountant with prior experience in a cross functional leadership role, ideally gained within a not for profit or membership driven organisation. The mentality to question and improve existing processes will be essential, as will be the ability to manage large projects and build rapport with stake holders across the organisation.
