Our client is now looking to hire a PhD Polymer Chemist to take over the Technical Manager's role. The role will be varied and the successful person will be responsible for controlling all technical aspects of the production of acrylic polymers through suspension polymerisation techniques and the overall management of the Technical Department which comprises of four laboratory team members.

Role / Description
*Management of 4 Laboratory staff to perform QC testing and undertake R & D work
*Managing new product developments
*Overall responsibility of the Quality Management system (QMS), working to ISO9001 and ISO13485 standards
*Managing technical issues relating to productions processes and liaising with Production Managers
*Issuing batch sheets to produce materials with optimum product quality using SAP database
*Controlling formulations and bill of materials databases
*Controlling the QC database including customer specifications and internal and finished projects specifications
*Customer complaint investigations and reporting
*Liaison with the environment Agency and fulfilling reporting requirements for emissions/releases to water/air
*Management of Cooling Tower monitoring, testing and control of Legionella
*Management of technical issues relating to the Effluent Treatment Plant
*PHD in Polymer Science or related
*Previous polymer industry experience will be desirable but not essential
*Supervisory experience gained in any capacity
*Organised and methodical
*Excellent database and document control skills
*Highly motivated, can do attitude
*Ability to work to deadlines under pressure
