In this role you will be responsible for the development and performance of the brands within the Grocery Retail Channel. You will have the ability to performance manage, coach and motivate direct reports and build strong working relationships across the entire business. The Channel Manager will work with the Commercial Director to implement the UK strategy within the Grocery channel to deliver the budget.

This will be a home-based role, must be within 2 hours of Portsmouth head office, you will be in Portsmouth office 2-3 days per week, always on a Monday.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Channel Strategy and direction for all brands - work with commercial director to set the strategy
  • Account and Business Planning Management - develop and implement joint business plans with retailers
  • Line Management in the commercial channel - support and coach the team through regular 121 sessions
  • Delivery of the Channel budgeted sales and profitability
  • Category management approach across all brands - provide category insight and direction to the team and customers to drive best in class execution across the portfolio
  • Customer and Channel Forecast Management - Aligned rolling 12-month forecast internally which are reviewed every 3 months
  • Maintain strong relationships with senior account stakeholders - support the National Account Manager and Key Account Executive in developing key relationships within the retailers
  • Control promotional budget spend - review and control the SOS, advertising and promotional, Sales Premium and fixed investment spend on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
  • Strong team player - demonstrate by example a strong sharing culture of information, best in class execution and team ethic. Liaise with Training Manager to assist in the training of customers` staff in order to promote the features, benefits and advantages of our products


Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of senior level negotiation and dealing with conflict
  • Experience at account management level within FMCG/consumer durables or equivalent
  • Line management and proven track record of developing a team
  • Proven track record of delivering sales targets across multiple channels
  • Best in class commercial skills, with the ability to make sound, informed decisions based on solid commercial facts
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to analyse, absorb, reflect and respond to data information
  • Leadership -sets vision and direction for total category
  • Analytical - Analyses data and information; Applies logical thinking to solve problems or make decisions; Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably
  • Excellent Communication and strong presentation skills
  • Ability to set clear direction and set out team objectives
  • Applies a logical thinking to solve problems and find solutions for the retailer
  • Communication - strong influencing, negotiating and rapport building
  • Influences others by effectively articulating perspective / position
  • Highly numerate, ability to turn data into information and action
  • Ability to understand and interpret the market, products and services
  • Presentation and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Broad knowledge of UK retail and wholesale small domestic appliance industry.
  • Excellent all-round communicator, possessing strong electronic, written and oral communication abilities, with ability to communicate at all levels
  • Current UK driving licence
