Category Manager - Engineering and MRO
Based: Central London
Remuneration: to £75,000 + benefits
Our client is one of the largest providers of passenger transport in Europe, employing some 60,000 people and delivering more than 2.2 billion passenger journeys every year. The business has enjoyed significant growth during recent years, both via acquisition and organically, and, with plans to continue this within new and existing markets, they seek to appoint a dynamic and commercially astute Category Manager.
As part of a restructure, they now seek to appoint a dedicated Procurement lead into a new role, responsible for leading the management of the Operations & Engineering Category to deliver the optimal cost of ownership for the category.
As a member of the procurement team the ideal candidate will deliver and retain value from effective management of external expenditure to enhance operating margins. In simple terms, you will be deploy category management at operating company level to deliver procurement savings as well as define and deliver a programme of procurement initiatives that leverage the scale of the company to demonstrate clear improvements in risk, cost and quality.
The Category Manager for engineering will develop one, three and five year category plans, to include plans for individual sourcing projects, identified cost saving benefits and timeframes for category development;
- Scheduling and running regular category review meetings with key stakeholders.
- Continually develop functional expertise and category knowledge ensuring it is utilised across the Group to improve business performance.
As Category Manager you will be Accountable for managing relationships with key suppliers within the category, leading supplier relationships and when required conflict resolution. As well as Managing the delivery of spend analysis and supply market research whilst developing a portfolio of Market Intelligence.
