As Category Manager for our Development Directorate, you will bring to us relevant construction industry experience and a strong procurement background. In the role your main responsibilities will be to develop and lead the strategic sourcing & purchasing programmes across a number of high profile development projects. In addition to developing the commercial category strategy for your area, you will take the commercial lead and contribute significantly to the delivery of procurement projects.
What you'll need to succeed
You will already be a senior commercial procurement professional and have demonstrable experience, understanding & application of strategic sourcing methodologies & category management techniques.
At MTVH, you will manage a defined category of spend within the business areas of Development, IT/Telecoms or Asset Management and so you will need significant & advanced procurement knowledge comprising: advanced negotiation skills, knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies & supply chain theory, persuading, influencing & interpersonal skills, contract law & dispute resolution, statistical & data analysis skills, knowledge of the external market, finance & leasing knowledge, business development & marketing and business accounting.
You will manage a wide range of projects and you will need to showcase strong examples of previous project management involving multiple stakeholders from many disciplines both internally & externally. You will be comfortable with all EC Procurement Directives and have examples of implementing processes & procedures and making decisions relating to European Law. Additionally, you will have examples showcasing application of all relevant UK legislation, eg TUPE, Competition Act, Race Relations, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, or equivalents. You should also be able to demonstrate application of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Code of Ethics.
We also expect the qualifications/technical competencies (or equivalents) as specified below:
- Masters or degree level qualification (or equivalent)
- Significant experience & Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or appropriate professional institute or relevant experience.
- Proficient in the use of e-commerce tools, E-tendering, E-auctions.
