An exciting opportunity within a fast-paced, corporate environment, initially on a 9-12 month maternity cover contract. This interesting & varied role would suit a motivated individual with some general accounts administration experience or perhaps a banking background.

What you will do:

To process all client payments and receipts and to update all client cashbooks and bank mandates in a timely, accurate, complaint and cost effective manner.

Main Responsibilities:-

  • Process all payments in a timely, accurate, compliant and cost effective manner. This comprises

    • Checking that payment requests have been properly authorised and that sufficient funds are available

    • For transfers - importing/entering or checking the payments on client internet bank links on

RBS/NatWest, Barclays, Lloyds & HSBC

    • For Check Print cheques - exporting the cheque file from SUN or excel into Check Print and arranging printing and signing (automatic or manual depending on client) of cheques (in conjunction with designated manager)

    • Dispatching cheques

    • Filing completed payment requests

  • Process all receipts in a timely, accurate, compliant and cost effective manner. This comprises entering receipts onto SUN (once relevant administrator has coded receipt) for

  • Update client cashbooks with all payments and receipts in a timely, accurate, compliant and cost effective manner (including payments made by standing order etc)

  • File statements etc

  • Update bank mandates for changes in authorised signatories etc

  • Arrange opening of new client bank accounts and closure of old

  • Keep a log of all cheque stationery and all files archived

  • Ensure sufficient banking stationery for daily and DR use

  • Review bank links (or paper statements if no link) to check transactions are as expected

  • Assist auditors as appropriate

    Your experience will include:

  • Strong customer service & communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Excellent Excel skills

  • An understanding of the principles of double entry bookkeeping, electronic ledgers & internet banking

  • 5 GCSE's, including Maths & English at grade C or above
