Caretaker & Maintenance Person - UES1

Location: South Croydon and surrounding sites

Role Type: Full time (hours and working pattern to be agreed)

About the role:

Uniform Education is supporting a specialist setting and its associated charity retail/shop operations and transport facilities. The successful candidate will help ensure that the buildings, grounds, vehicles and facilities are safe, secure and well-maintained across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities & person specification:

  • Carry out grounds work (grass cutting, weeding, low tree trimming, pressure washing, winter salt/grit) and outdoor structure/fencing repairs.
  • Perform building maintenance tasks: painting/decorating, minor plumbing, general repairs, working with contractors, purchasing materials.
  • Facilities & compliance: PAT testing assistance, weekly fire alarm tests, monthly lighting checks, water temperature monitoring, supporting pool maintenance.
  • Vehicles: Transport school buses to/from garage, perform routine checks, ensure cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Essential: proven experience in caretaking/maintenance, competence with a wide range of practical skills, grounds-keeping ability, good organisational and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, full clean UK driving licence.
  • Desirable: school or educational setting experience, retail/charity shop operations, pool maintenance or PAT testing.
