The Shires is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, and is an independent special school and care home based in the village of Stretton (just off the A1 north of Stamford, Lincolnshire). The Shires caters for students aged 11 to 19 who have autism, and who may have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The home and school occupy the same site and the care and education staff work closely together to achieve outstanding outcomes.
We are looking to recruit competent, passionate care workers at various levels. Ideally candidates will have at least six months’ experience within a similar setting, a good understanding of autism and be working towards or achieved the Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or equivalent.

The salary ranges from £18,691.40 to £19,619.11 depending on experience and qualifications plus monthly travel allowance and many other benefits.
All successful candidates will need to display a commitment to promoting the safeguarding and well being of our young people, be able to drive the Shires’ vehicles and participate in swimming and other activities.
Positions are full time working on average 45½ hour week, 2 days on, 2 days off (07:00-21:00) on a rolling rota basis which includes weekends and bank holidays. However if you have experience and are looking for more flexibile hours why not consider a term time role or joining our bank team?
