The Shires at Oakham is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, and is an independent special school and care home which opened last year. The Shires at Oakham caters for students aged 11 to 19 who have autism, and who may have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The home and school occupy the same site and the care and education staff work closely together to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Due to our continued growth we are looking to recruit two competent, passionate care workers. Ideally you will have at least six months’ experience within a similar setting, recent experience of working waking nights, a good understanding of autism and hopefully working towards a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or equivalent, however if you have not got the qualification but have the experience, are passionate and committed to providing a high standard of care and facilitate our students personal developments then we would like to hear from you as in return we offer career training opportunities to the right candidate.
The successful candidates will need to display a commitment to promoting the safeguarding and well being of our young people, be able to drive the Shires’ vehicles and participate in activities with the students.
The position is full time, working a rolling shift patterns of 2 days on followed by 2 days off commencing at 07.00 until 21.00 will include weekends and bank holidays.
