If you are a reliable and punctual team player, with good numeracy and literacy skills and a warm and friendly disposition, we would like to hear from you.

Orchard at the heart of the community

Orchard Care Homes has been running and managing care homes across the UK for over a decade. Our mission: To be the positive choice for residents, their families and friends, healthcare professionals and staff.

Our person-centred approach to care relies on the dedication and passion of our Carers, who we expect will go the extra mile to improve the home experience and generate a relaxed and informal community within our homes.

What you’ll be doing

Utilising your excellent communication skills and ability to put others at ease, you’ll be tasked with delivering the highest standard of personalised care to residents, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and that individual’s rights to privacy, independence and choice are met.

Following individual care plans, you will act as a key worker for a named group of residents and will participate in leisure activities as appropriate, including escorting residents to appointments and outings.

Responsible for making, changing and tidying rooms, you will undertake general light cleaning duties to maintain a pleasant and welcoming environment; helping to serve meals and give appropriate support to residents who need additional assistance.

Where you will be working:

Longridge Hall & Lodge

Longridge Hall & Lodge is found in the heart of the strong and close community of the town of Longridge, just eight miles from Preston. Two purpose-built care homes sit together on the site, providing 24hr residential care for 30 residents in the Hall and round the clock specialist dementia support for 30 elderly residents in the Lodge.

What you’ll need:

Effective, confident communication and interpersonal skills are essential for developing good internal relationships with your team, residents and relatives. You’ll need to understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as Health and Safety, COSHH and the Care Standards Act; as well as possessing sound knowledge in Infection Prevention and Control policies.

An attentive self-starter, you will be alert to residents’ physical and mental wellbeing so that you can immediately report any changes in a resident’s condition to a senior person on duty.

You will have to work towards NVQ2 in Direct Care as this must be completed within 12 months of taking up this position, but it’s the attitude you can bring to Orchard Care Homes that we value most and we are looking for enthusiastic people to continue making Orchard a rewarding and enjoyable place to live and work.
