Hours:14 hours per week (Sat 5.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m. and Sun 8.00 a.m. - 8.00 p.m.)
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
*NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
*Caring and sensitive personality
*Ability to demonstrate compassion, respect and empathy to caring for older people
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
*To provide support and assistance to the House Manager to ensure the physical, mental and social well-being of the tenants.
*Under the general policies and procedures of management, to promote, protect and respect individual tenants' right to privacy, dignity, self-determination and choice.
*To communicate sensitively with all tenants, endeavouring to maintain and improve their level of functioning providing:
o a supportive environment, to meet their individual needs
o positive moral and emotional support as necessary
o positive encouragement to live as independently as possible, enhancing their quality of life
*To attend handover prior to commencing duty ensuring any special needs or action is carried out
*Ensure all incidents and information is recorded in accordance with the Associations policies and procedures and best practice
*To provide care and support to the tenants, including prompting tenants to take their medication as prescribed by their G.P
*To contact as appropriate or necessary, the tenant's G.P. or emergency services
*To contact next-of-kin or relatives if necessary
*To provide the care to the tenants as outlined in their Care Plan, which may include assisting with suppers, getting dressed for bed, assisting into bed. Continence management.
*To attend handover at the end of your shift ensuring all relevant information is passed on to the Awake Night Warden
*To report to the House Manager or appropriate Manager on duty any changes in tenants needs via the Communication Book and Daily Diary maintaining all necessary records regarding tenants.
*To arrange and support as required, occasional evening social functions in conjunction with the House Manager
*To ensure the property is safe and secure at all times and report any maintenance requirements or defects to the Help-desk. On no occasion must the building be accessible to unauthorised persons
*To be the responsible person in the event of a Fire and ensure that action is taken in accordance with the Associations policies and procedures and relevant training
