Role: Support Worker - Residential Care

Hourly Rate: £7.65 - £8.30 (DOE)
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Location: Consett

Job Profile

Your day as a Support Worker could be taking the young people to School or College, some of who may need support while there and after School and non-School days, taking an active part in activities including; Cinema, Bowling, Social Walks and Shopping etc. We are looking for people that are outgoing and can motive the young people to lead a fulfilled life. To work as part of a team and on their own, meeting the needs of the young people. The children and young people that we work with have learning disabilities challenging behaviour and need varying degrees of support some may need personal care.
Shifts: A mixture of 12 hour shifts including Weekends:
Days - 08:00-20:00
Nights - 20:00-08:00

At Cambian, you’ll find that you’re truly valued for who you are, and the great work you do. So you can help the people we care for. You will be based within one of our homes in the Consett area. We currently have 3 pathway homes aged 16-26 and 2 children's homes aged 8-18 in Country Durham.
We are a specialist service for young people and adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities. The service offers enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our residents. The service aims to actively enable the residents to achieve their personal best and seek ways of gaining and growing new life skills. The service objectives focus on active support and raising awareness of autism in the community.

It is important for all the children and young people to have staff who can understand their needs, wishes and preferences. You could therefore play an integral part in encouraging all the children and young peoples' independence, by providing individualised strategies alongside structured activities and times of natural relax through the day.
You will also learn from some of the most dedicated and inspirational people in our profession and, just like the children and young people that live in our services you will be learning all the time through our on-going mentoring and support.
