Monday - Friday: 2pm - 8:30pm
If you are required to work any weekend shifts the hours are as follows:
Weekend Hours: 4:30pm - 8:30pm
You will come into contact with vulnerable adults in this role therefor a fully DBS check will need to be completed as a part of the application process if successful.
This position will be reporting into the Cafe Supervisor.
Experience / Qualifications & Training Required:
Food safety and food hygiene certificate
NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Hospitality or Customer Service
An awareness of health and safety issues
Knowledge of different dietary requirements
Knowledge of allergens
You will be expected to work in the servery and in the kitchen as part of a multi-skilled Café team delivering meals and snacks to residents and the general public.
You will also serve residents and the public in a friendly, efficient manner and ensure that they receive the highest level of service at all times.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Servery related duties:
*Present a positive company image to residents, customers, partners and external organisations.
*Lay out The Café to enable service to commence promptly eg tables, chairs, patio furniture are positioned correctly, doors open, background music/radio as appropriate.
*Set out jugs & glasses for water.
*Ensure all food specified on the menu is present and maintain a stock level to enable speedy free flowing service.
*Know the ingredients of each dish, as well as allergens from the chef's briefing
*Greet and serve customers
*Process food orders and deliver all table orders to customers in a prompt and pleasant manner
*Ensure residents provide room numbers and/or collect tickets for late meals.
*Use hot plates and hot pass as directed.
*Be aware of customers who need help carrying hot food or drinks.
*Politely encourage residents to clear tables on leaving
*Clean, wipe, sweep, mop Café as required.
*Report any incidents/accidents that occur in the Café promptly to the Café
*Secure the Café at the end of the evening shift.
*Use a touchpad point of sale terminal and till.
*Process credit, debit card and cash payments as necessary.
*Cash up and report till adjustments.
Kitchen related duties:
*Assist the Café Supervisor/Duty Chef with basic food preparation.
*Prepare and heat simple food, ordered by customers, as advised by the chef.
*Prepare breakfast or evening meal bags for residents
*Wash up crockery, cutlery, pots and pans.
*Clean food preparation areas and equipment.
*Ensure all kitchen surfaces are clean and floor has been swept and moped.
*Take laundry to laundry room & collect as necessary.
*Follow cleaning schedules.
*Maintain professional boundaries with residents
*Any other duties as required by the Cafe Supervisor/Duty Chef to assist in the smooth running of the department.
*To work within all company policies and procedures at all times and to abide by the Code of Conduct.
*To attend mandatory training and abide by policies and procedures on Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
*To attend appropriate continuing professional development and training events and be committed to team events
*To ensure service users are made aware of key processes e.g. complaints, information sharing, getting involved, and to make sure that they are asked about how they would prefer information; to ensure special information requirements (e.g. large print, language, braille etc) are clearly recorded on their files and that their needs are met
Previous experience preferred:
Work in a commercial catering environment or commercial kitchen
Previous experience of providing customer service
Experience of using catering equipment such as a commercial dishwasher
Food preparation experience
