CAD Technician

Market 36 Recruitment are currently for an CAD Technician on behalf of our client based in Sudbury on a permanent basis.

Our client is seeking a CAD Technician with a strong background in computer-aided design and proficiency in a range of CAD software applications, specifically SolidWorks. In this role, you will play a key part in producing high-quality technical drawings and schematics to support their engineering and design projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Produce and update detailed technical drawings and schematics using SOLIDWORKS.
• Work closely with engineers and designers to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate and comply with relevant industry standards.
• Perform quality checks to identify and resolve any design discrepancies or errors.
• Support the preparation of project documentation, including specifications and reports.
• Maintain a well-organised library of CAD files, change notes, and project documentation for efficient team access.
• Stay up to date with the latest CAD technologies and best practices to continually improve productivity.

Experience, education & qualifications

• Strong 3D CAD skills, with proven experience using SolidWorks.
• Excellent computer literacy, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Formal engineering background, ideally with an electro-mechanical focus.
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and/or relevant qualification (ONC, HNC, HND, or degree level).

We are ideally seeking a college leaver or former apprentice with 1–2 years of industry experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. Previous experience in an engineering environment is essential.

Salary: Up to £32,000 (DOE)
