Personnel Selection are looking for a Buyer to join an established company in Andover. The successful candidate for the position of Buyer will be responsible for procurement, management and communication relating to all aspects of the purchasing life cycle and relationships.

To be the successful candidate for the role of Buyer you will need the following:-

  • Previous buying experience with responsibility for your own suppliers

  • Experience sourcing new business and managing projects

  • Strong IT Skills including advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint skills

  • English Language and Mathematics GCSE at Grade A* - C

  • A full UK Driving Licence

Your main responsibilities as the Buyer will be:-

  • Manage staff – offer performance feedback, conduct appraisals, establish development and training needs (Stock Controllers/Assistants, Purchasing Analyst)

  • Accountable for all aspects of purchasing relationships between the company and supplier

  • Ensure annual trading terms are negotiated and agreed before the start of the new trading year

  • Review and agree respective ranges with the suppliers and obtain agreement/approval from the Head of Purchasing and Chief Executive before finalisation

  • Agree and sign off all purchase orders raised by the Stock Controllers/Assistant before sent to respective suppliers

  • Ensure the Central stock turnover is target is met

  • Maintain the stock value in the warehouses at or below a certain level agreed with Head of Purchasing

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring stock turn in the warehouse is maintained at or above a specified rate

  • Maintain a promotional calendar with suppliers during the trading period

  • Ensure all Trade Show offers are agreed with the suppliers and Head of Purchasing

  • Approval of all indents prior to being checked by stock control

  • Central Stock/Agency Pricing/Direct Pricing for respective suppliers

  • Communicate effectively to members in a timely and professional manner

  • Produce and deliver engaging presentations as and when required for board meetings.

  • Monitor prices and maintain market competitiveness

  • Work collaboratively with the European Core Range suppliers
