The Buyer will join a large and forward-thinking procurement department. Responsible for the procurement of mechanical items and services such as; subcontract machining, forgings, castings, pneumatics, cylinder blocs and engineered components. The Buyer will contribute to the achievement of overall commercial and technical strategies - working closely with commodity managers and engineering colleagues in support of NPI procurement activities.

  • -Sourcing of engineered components and mechanical items
  • -Supplier selection, auditing and assessment activities
  • -Market analysis, benchmarking and monitoring of commodity trends
  • -Strategic negotiation with the supply chain
  • -Vendor Management - maintenance of supplier KPIs, Scorecards and review meetings
  • -Support NPI procurement activities

Applicants to the Buyer role should meet the following criteria:

  • -Purchasing experience in a technical manufacturing/engineering environment, such as aerospace or automotive
  • -Experience in the procurement of engineered components, mechanical items, casting and forgings
  • -Exposure to a global supply chain would be beneficial
  • -The ability to read technical diagrams / engineering drawings
  • -Strategic procurement ability - negotiation, supplier selection and vendor management
