A fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a busy manufacturing organisation as a Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for all purchasing activities across a number of suppliers and commodities.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;
Placing Purchase order using MRP driven reports.
Managing purchase orders in the ERP system including order acknowledgement.
Contributing to cost reduction targets.
Expediting of outstanding purchase orders.
Ensuring correct forecasts are communicated to Supply Chain.
Minimising of inventory levels through reduction of lead times and stock agreements.
Benchmarking of significant spend to ensure material costs are minimised.
Working with suppliers to ensure that cost reduction opportunities are realised.
Development and implementation of category plans.
Ownership and maintenance of stock levels.
Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
Personal Specification of the Buyer;
CIPS qualification would be an advantage.
Proven Purchasing experience is essential.
Experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills.
Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.
Ability to effectively prioritise workload.
Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Purchasing Controller, Senior Buyer, Supplier Manager or Buyer.
