An experienced Buyer with a strategic mind is required to play a leading role within our client’s leadership team. You will work closely with the site supply chain team to define and implement local commodity strategies that deliver QCD to support the needs of a growing business..

The Role

  • Through analysis of the current supply base and with an understanding of the business demands going forward develop strategic sourcing plans by commodity and supplier
  • Negotiate long term agreements with Growth and Critical suppliers that deliver the best total acquisition cost (TAC) for the business
  • Negotiate logistics agreements for implementing Vendor Schedules and Pull Control mechanisms that can then be managed by the site supply chain team
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure flow down of customer and regulatory requirements
  • Growing site spend in low cost economies with highly capable and approved vendors
  • As part of a multi-functional team deliver significant out sourcing objectives with zero impact to production and customer
  • Customer Bids and New Product Introduction

o Liaise with design engineering to develop supplier strategies on new programmes

o Work with Sales in compiling new bids to customers to ensure correct tender process with suppliers

o Working with Site Personnel responsible for NPI define and coordinate all procurement activity from supplier selection through to industrialisation

  • Work with the site supply chain team to develop plans for delivering the Cost, Delivery and Quality objectives for the site.

With the Site Supply Chain Manager hold recurring Business Review Meetings with Growth and Critical suppliers. Share strategies and set supplier objectives that link into the sites strategy and objectives. Measure supplier performance against defined KPI’s.

The Person

  • 5+ years’ experience in a strategic procurement role
  • Experience in manufacturing environment essential
  • In depth knowledge and experience of running MRP systems
  • Technical experience preferable
  • Able to be accountable and deliver results
  • A safety-conscious approach to work
  • Positive attitude to continuous improvement
  • Well experienced in building internal and external relationships
  • Flexible approach to working to meet deadlines
  • Quality and accuracy are key
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver short, medium and long term commodity and supplier strategies
  • Experience in leading commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers
  • Understanding of quality requirements in aerospace and medical industries
  • Strong IT skills and in depth knowledge and experience of working with MRP and developing processes within MRP
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Be current with industry standard accreditations in order to apply to supplier chain where appropriate
  • Significant experience in implementing Pull Control or Vendor Managed Inventory processes with suppliers
  • Be fully versed in scorecard KPIs, understand how Supply Chain actions and strategy effects site performance
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good concentration levels and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
