This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced buyer to join a commercially astute procurement team based in Northampton. This position is not only supporting the UK procurement strategy but it also offer's the chance to ideally develop existing buying and procurement skills in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Key duties will involve:
To establish strategic supply partners in consultation with key business functions to gain benefit in respects of innovation, research and development opportunity
To effectively identify commodity price movements and target reducing prices, cost reduction opportunities and cost avoidance through strong purchasing practices
To understand the expectations of the client customers and work closely with Sales team with procurement decisions to give maximum benefit
To Develop strong working relationships with all internal departments to support the overall achievement of departmental objectives
To provide a comprehensive purchasing and co-ordination service to the client Products which meets the needs of the business
To identify procurement opportunities and performance gaps originating from ingredients, processes and procedures throughout managed categories
Identify preferred suppliers within managed categories and communicate to business to ensure all new products are purchased from strategic suppliers when possible
Preparation of weekly and monthly reports as per business requirements for internal and group use
Negotiate and put in place contracts for a range of raw materials products
To review on an monthly basis, contract positions, market and opinion
To Support the strategic direction of the Procurement Team
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience in a Buyer position within a Food, ingredients or pharmaceutical industry.
To possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills,
To be able to demonstrate on a daily basis excellent leadership, management and influencing skills, whilst ensuring that the senior management team are fully supported
To be driven and be determination to achieve results, whilst maintaining focus at all times to ensure results are achieved, and exceeded where possible
To possess a high degree of knowledge and a thorough business understanding, to negotiate with both internal and external customer how future synergies may be realised
An excellent Relationship builder to constantly be able to add value in terms of existing and potential future business relationships
The ability to manage both internal and external relations, whilst building trust, integrity and professional rapports that future enhance the client brand
