Buyer / Expeditor - One off production parts in stainless steel, aluminium and carbon steel

Your new company is a leading design and manufacturing business with several sites in the UK. The business manufacture bespoke and custom designed solutions on behalf of the Defence industries and drive innovation into everything they do.

Due to significant growth your new company are currently recruiting a Buyer / Expeditor.

Your new role will work in a low volume / high value manufacturing environment and will support engineering staff by assisting with the purchase of materials that delivers quality, on-time delivery.

You will expedite company orders, liaising with suppliers form schedule requirement to arrival of material that delivers a continuous supply.

You will develop strong internal relationships to ensure all materials and parts are in the business and will be responsible for escalating any shortages to the purchasing manager and management team.

You will have an eye for continuous improvement and will seek to improve the flow of materials across the organisation.

In addition you will support the purchasing team with other duties as required.

To be successful in this role you will have previous Buyer / Expeditor experience in an engineering focused manufacturing environment and should have excellent communication skills that enable you to build strong and effective working with relationships with internal management and with suppliers.

You will be an organised individual who is able to manage orders across a range of suppliers with good efficiency.

You will demonstrate experience of monitoring supplier orders throughout their production, shipment and arrival to ensure a continuous and timely supply of materials. You will also possess the skills needed to gain early awareness of any delays or shortfalls and have taken action to make internal management aware and also have worked with the suppliers to get them back on track.

You will have experience with ERP & MRP systems and should be able to manage large data sets in Excel.

You must be a British passport holder or have lived in the UK for 5 years and you must be able to clear a Security Clearance vetting process.
