Business Unit Manager

Applicants are invited to apply for the Business Unit Manager vacancy within the Port Operations Department, based at the Port of Great Yarmouth.

Role Purpose: To lead the team to achieve the business performance objectives set by the Port Director and Executive team. Business Performance is measured by equal reference to i) Financial performance ii) Health and Safety performance and iii) Customer Service.

The Business Unit Manager role will include the following responsibilities:

-Monitor and control all legal and statutory operating requirements including the delivery of a safe and sustainable QSSHE working environment

-To be responsible for the safe working environment of the Business Unit’s employees

-To meet or exceed the budgeted EBITDA of the Business Unit in each financial year

-Produce mid-monthly forecasts of financial performance, quarterly full-year forecasts and annual budgets

-To deliver consistently excellent customer service

-To take ownership of the contractual and business relationship with customers such that commercial and operational matters are handled satisfactorily

-To direct and work closely with Sales and Business Development resources to deliver revenue and EBITDA targets.

-To put in place action plans to address areas where customer service is below expected standards

-To lead 5 direct reports and approximately 50 indirect reports, depending upon business demands

Applicants interested in the Business Unit Manager role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Able to demonstrate a significant amount of experience in an Operations Management role

-Previous experience of delivering major change/project initiatives, improved financial performance and productivity into industrialised operations

-Strong communication skills with the ability to self-motivate and work closely with core business functions, across multiple locations

-Able to present/communicate complex and analytical information to all levels of the business and facilitate a common understanding of the content at an individual level

-Proven experience in managing relationships and service level agreements with external partners

-Quick decision making and the ability to use your initiative to problem solve is essential
