Business Development Manager – Hospital Discharge & Community Engagement

Location: National (can be based anywhere in the UK, with weekly meetings in London or Surrey)

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + commission

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time

About the Role

Sanderson King are proud to be supporting our client, a leading healthcare provider, in hiring a Business Development Manager to lead hospital discharge partnerships and community engagement initiatives across the UK.

This newly created role will focus on expanding live-in and visiting care services by building strong relationships with hospital discharge teams, community professionals, and local organisations that support older people. The successful candidate will help ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home, reducing readmissions and improving patient outcomes through high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Hospital Discharge Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS and private hospital discharge teams, case managers, and healthcare professionals to drive referrals.
  • Work with hospital administrators to improve discharge processes, enhance patient flow, and enable safe transitions home.
  • Partner with internal care teams to design and deliver effective discharge-to-home care plans that support recovery and continuity of care.
  • Promote private-pay live-in care services by educating healthcare professionals, patients, and families on the benefits of post-hospital support.
  • Develop regional discharge pipelines and collaborate with marketing to position the business as a premium recovery solution.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Develop and implement a national community engagement strategy to raise awareness of live-in care services.
  • Build partnerships with local charities, professional advisors, and community organisations to host events, educational sessions, and outreach activities.
  • Support regional managers to drive referrals through local relationship building and brand ambassador initiatives.
  • Represent the business at industry forums, panels, and events to strengthen reputation and expand the referral network.
  • Provide insights from engagement activities to inform service development and marketing strategy.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development or partnerships, ideally within health and social care.
  • Proven success building referral networks and managing key relationships across healthcare and community sectors.
  • Strong understanding of hospital discharge pathways and the continuum of care (live-in, visiting, and transitional care).
  • Excellent relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
  • Commercially minded with a data-driven approach to identifying growth opportunities and tracking performance.
  • Confident communicator and presenter, capable of engaging both professional and public audiences.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, comfortable working independently with national travel as required.
