Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Perth, Glasgow or Inverness

Salary: Up to £63,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Permanent| Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

The environment in which Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) operate is fast changing. The generators connected to our network are greener and more varied in size and technology. Electricity consumers have higher expectations of the service they receive and are adapting their use in response to a data-driven society. In light of this, national energy policy and the actions of the energy regulator are enabling customer focused, smarter network businesses.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join us in developing and implementing our strategy for our diverse business. In this role, you’ll play a key role in identifying and planning for the future, including the evolution of current business activities and considering new market opportunities.

By utilising various analytical tools and evidence-based approaches to establish a comprehensive view of potential development pathways in the electricity networks sector. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to perform market research, identifying risks and potential opportunities to further our strategy. You’ll lead and manage relevant projects, delivering on time and within budget, as well as constructing and delivering effective presentation and papers on your progress, build to successfully convince and communicate strategic proposals.

Your Skills and Experience

To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask that you have an open mind and analytical skill set. You should be comfortable with interrogating complex problems across a range of disciplines to extract and assess future opportunities. You’ll also have experience in the utilities industry, with demonstrable knowledge in economic regulation and experience with regulatory bodies. You’ll be a customer focused individual, who is self-motived and willing to work outside your area of expertise to engage with technical, financial and engineering specialists to gather relevant information.

There may also be a financial reporting element to this role, therefore, experience and ability to undertake financial analysis and reporting is a key requirement.

Our Company

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
