Business Development Manager

This opportunity will appeal to a graduate qualified Business Development Manager with a background in components for OEM customers who has the ambition, drive and potential to transition to P&L General Manager level. Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high integrity flexible sealing solutions for demanding applications in a range of performance critical sectors. Whilst having a standard product range a significant element of the business success continues to be the provision of a bespoke and consultative service that collaborates closely with its customers’ own development programmes and produces innovative solutions to demanding requirements using advanced technologies and materials. This key role reports directly to the Managing Director and leads the external and internal sales team, together with the associated customer service function, with responsibility for the generation of new business that will fuel the long term growth and profitability of the company. The role is both strategic and operational, contributing at senior management level and managing all customer and prospect relationships to meet or exceed business target levels. The product sales cycle includes engineering collaboration at the early concept stages through to the negotiation of long term contracts. The prospects of your next career step leading to a General Manager position in the short to medium term are very real. Candidates for this position will need to be graduate qualified preferably in an engineering/technical discipline who have been trained in sales and new business development for a specialist component manufacturer where product design, applications engineering and the approval cycles can be both detailed and extensive. You must have a solid track record of successfully selling components to OEM’s and direct experience in pharmaceutical, defence, food or aerospace will also be advantageous. You will enjoy personally handling face to face negotiations and new business development as well as developing and leading a team.
