Business Development Manager

Are you a commercial B2B salesperson with experience in developing strong client relationships? We’re working with a global, multi-faceted events service supplier, serving the world’s largest event businesses.

The role:

You’ll identify, pitch and secure new business for this multi-national exhibition / trade show / live event supplier.

This role requires a self-motivated go-getter, articulate in written and verbal communication, with an ability to develop rapport and build relationships at all levels in the corporate market. You will develop business from scratch, and be measured against the development of a new business pipeline and its conversion into profitable business

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identify potential targets in the corporate sector predominantly
  • Prospect and qualify new business opportunities and build a sales pipeline, securing quotes for projects and/or tenders for preferred supplier status
  • Identify and qualify one off projects and obtain the ability to pitch for them
  • Attend networking and marketing events to identify new prospects
  • Work closely with the marketing manager to build our brand recognition and maintain regular communication with prospective clients
  • Produce proposals and/or respond to RFI’s and RFP’s
  • Produce presentations for pitches with the assistance of the creative design team
  • Present our credentials to clients in a face to face environment
  • Manage the sales pipeline ensuring there is sufficient opportunity to meet revenue and gross profit targets
  • Work closely with the account management team to widen our reach and maximise our revenue from every new client won

Key requirements:

  • Experience as a commercial B2B sales professional in a similar role/at a similar level
  • Experience within the Exhibition and Events Industry is preferable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under your own initiative/with minimal supervision
  • Communication (verbal, written and listening skills), with excellent spelling, grammar and the ability to produce error-free documents
  • Self-motivation and management of workload
  • Managing time and prioritising
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Monitoring and evaluating skills
  • Decision making skills
  • Understanding of company policies and ability to implement them
  • Working on your own, using initiative, as well as being an enthusiastic team player
  • Problem solving, questioning and focussed on finding solutions
  • Flexible and with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
