Our client is currently looking for a Business Development Manager to sell highly strategic sponsorship opportunities across their flagship pharma and life sciences conferences and large-scale exhibitions.
This is an exciting time in our client’s development. The successful candidate will be selling across a market leading, flagship portfolio. One of their major events runs for the first time, in its new guise, in March 2018, with S$1M in revenue and 600-700 participants. It is the only event of its kind in Asia, and our client has ambitious growth plans for the next three years. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join the event.
The kind of person we’re looking for should be ambitious, articulate and tenacious. You’ll be re-booking and upselling existing clients, cross selling to clients on other life science events and fielding inbound leads. But to be highly successful, you’ll will need to use your own initiative and source your own leads. Face to face meetings are where you’ll close the big deals, and we expect you to be out on meetings frequently. So, you also need to be presentable and confident enough to take a meeting with a major technology firm, consultant or other large service provider on your own.
You’ll need to be able to get up and go and use your own initiative. We expect you to be on the phone and out on meetings a lot, including international sales trips. Great networkers, both online and face-to-face will excel in this role. You don’t need to have prior knowledge of the life science industry, of course it helps, but someone with a thirst for knowledge and curious mind won’t have any problem picking the subject up.
The role is challenging. On the other hand this is a great working environment with plenty of opportunities. Success will mean you’ll quite quickly start earning excellent commission. You’ll get a supportive manager and on-going training. Our client’s systems (SalesForce, Eloqua) for managing sales campaigns and generating leads are world class.
