Our Client, a small well-established distributor of materials, consumables and equipment to customers in high technology, high performance assembly industries including manufacturers of electronics, medical devices, plastics, optical, automotive, energy, defence and aerospace products, is seeking to recruit a highly skilled Business Development Manager / Head of Sales with the inspirational and motivational leadership skills, breadth of knowledge, customer focus and passion to bring a fresh modern energy to the sales process by developing and refining the sales team and the customer experience to an exceptionally high standard, while increasing efficiency, productivity, sales and profit margins.

The sales approach is a responsive and consultative one, focused on delivering a solution for the customer to be utilised within the manufacturing / production process.
This is a new role and is the most senior sales role in the business, reporting into the Managing Director. Responsible for both the Sales function and the Sales Teams, the individual will work closely with others in the Senior Management Team on strategy development, developing sales tactics and performance measures and will be proactive and hands-on in the management, motivation and mentoring of the Sales Teams.
The role involves team management and extensive customer contact, with an emphasis on developing the individual and collective skills of the Sales team. You will be based in the Oxfordshire headquarters but will also spend time out in the field working with customers in conjunction with Sales Team members.
The successful candidate must be a hands-on, proactive, highly experienced and fully involved Business Development Manager / Head of Sales / Sales Manager with an SME background in technical sales management and team development from an industry where the key customers are manufacturers of electronics, technology, automotive, plastics or similar, with proven first class people management skills and the commercial skills, energy, enthusiasm and creativity to be a key driver and innovator in respect of driving sales, profitability and service excellence. An in-depth understanding of manufacturing / assembly / production issues and priorities is essential, ideally with an electronics bias. Some formal sales management training would be advantageous.
