Business Development Director

The role will involve the full end to end business development process including strategic planning, networking, lead generation, opportunity qualification, successful bid management and early stage account management.

Commercial Duties

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive revenue generation strategy that will deliver the business' revenue targets and future plans throughout the UK and Ireland
  • Execute a sustainable revenue stream that will deliver target revenues and EBITDA in the UK.
  • Develop long-term working relationships and collaborative agreements with key clients
  • Be responsible for the co-ordination and preparation of commercial proposals for new business within new and existing accounts, including co-ordinating cross functional teams in support of this process.
  • Ensure the business`s Commercial and Operations functions work closely to develop coherent commercial structures and processes to support long term business growth.
  • Delivery and regular monitoring of actual v. budgeted revenue metrics and update periodic forecasts as required.
  • Perform complex and detailed negotiations with existing and new clients on behalf of the business.
  • Identify current and possible future trends, possible opportunities and necessary corrective actions from reported data.

Corporate Client /Relationship Owner

  • Act as the primary Commercial Interface clients on all Commercial and Customer facing related matters.
  • Work with the Regional Commercial and other country operations functions to ensure pro-active and high-quality relationship management and best practices are implemented.
  • Ensure that the Brand and Corporate values are maintained at the highest levels.
  • Make regular visits to the existing clients in the market in order to manage and maintain and develop robust commercial working relationships.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business strategy and ensure that the business maintains its position as preferred supplier of support services.

Manage Quality and Commercial detail

  • Ensure that the commercial documentation is in order and that all key commercial elements are agreed prior to hand over to the operations team.
  • Ensure that each customer bid opportunity is responded to with a comprehensive proposal and that contract agreements are delivered upon and signed.
  • Ensure that all pricing and proposals are developed in accordance with the company approval policy set by the Group Commercial Division.

New Business Development

  • Develop, with the Group Commercial Division, a strategic sales plan for the UK and Ireland.
  • Ensure that a key account strategy is implemented with existing base and this agreed approach is aligned with the group commercial objectives and that all profitable opportunities are identified and targeted.
  • Plan and support the entry into new and emerging industries and areas in the UK and Ireland.
  • Identify key decision makers in each target client organisation and develop key relationships leading to the growth of a pipeline of new opportunities in line with business strategy while managing the full sales cycle to closing.

Key Requirements

  • Candidates should have at least five+ (5) years of experience at a senior level in Business Development, preferably in the building solutions and modular homes industry.
  • Candidates should have minimum third level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Proven senior level contacts in the relevant industries
  • Ability to operate comfortably at CXO level
  • Proven track record of winning significant deals across multiple sectors
  • Experience in developing and delivering successful strategies for external clients.
  • Financial acumen, with proven experience with financial modelling.
  • Proven experience managing projects in a collaborative approach, working across business units, to drive results from conception to completion.
  • A history of successfully engaging internal and external stakeholders (at senior levels and across functions) on transformational new ideas; adept at moving senior management to action.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing profitable growth strategies, due diligence on new opportunities.
  • Self-starter who can work on their own initiative
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organisational, teamwork and presentation skills
