Biffa`s municipal division provides high quality, efficient and cost-effective waste services for local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales. These services comprise collecting household refuse and recyclables, managing household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) and related transfer stations, operating garden waste services.
The South Oxfordshire and Vale of the White Horse District councils and Biffa have just entered into a 7 year extension period for the provision of Refuse and Recycling collections, Garden Waste collections, Street Cleansing Operations, Transfer station operation and management of an in-house workshop.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Business/Commercial Manager to join the Biffa Team based in Abingdon , to aid with the ongoing growth and commercial success of the contract whilst operating to the satisfaction of the Client and remaining within the constraints of financial targets and Company procedures. The Business/Commercial Manager will have responsibility of Managing of team of over 180 staff.
- Ensuring the safe, effective and efficient delivery of all areas of the business to the satisfaction of both the Client and the Company.
- Management of the workforce ensuring that the requirements of the business are delivered and KPIs met and exceeded, including health and safety and service delivery targets.
- Increasing revenue through identifying and delivering commercial opportunities.
- Improving business performance beyond key and budgeted metrics.
Education / Qualifications
CPC - Management
IOSH Managing Safely certificate or equivalent
2-years management experience in waste industry or similar service delivery environment
Evidence of successful delivery of contracts
2-years of profit and loss management with on-target delivery including budget preparation
2-years management of health and safety, with at least 1-year being in waste industry or similar service delivery environment
Evidence of people management including recruitment, retention, absence and disciplinary/grievance, engagement and development
Demonstrate experience in driving commercial growth
Practical experience of working within permits/operating licences
Evidence of people and health & safety management in a unionised environment
2-years managing local authority client
Proven application of Fleet Transport Association (FTA) driving rules and regulations
IT literate - comfortable using business software and systems
