Royal Mail is looking for a Business Architect to work on the Parcel System Major Change Programme which is delivering significant change to the commercial and operational activities of the Royal Mail Parcels business, supported by new technology also being delivered by the programme.
About the role
Reporting to the Major Change Programme Director, and part of the Parcel System Business Architecture team, you’ll support the production, maintenance and communication of the Parcel System Programme Blueprint including high level business processes, supporting tools, technology and information, and the impact on people.
Engaging with stakeholders to influence design decisions to meet business goals, scope, strategy and benefits, you’ll ensure the integrity of business design across the Parcels business, aligning with the wider architecture blueprints across Royal Mail.
With a strategic level focus you’ll take ownership for key business initiatives, ensuring that projects deliver a business solution aligned with the defined scope, alongside providing assurance activities on project deliverables such as business requirements, functional specifications and operational/commercial procedures.
Responsible for the identifying, defining and agreeing outcomes and benefits for the business initiatives, including calculating specific benefits cases and the associated measurements such as the key performance indicators and benefit realisation strategies, you’ll ensure the developed solution continues to enable the identified benefits. Key to the success of the role will be cross work-stream and Programme collaboration to ensure delivery of the blueprint and to ensure dependencies, constraints, risks and issues are managed appropriately. Liaising with technical and business design authorities, you’ll help identify, impact assess and resolve issues related to change requests and benefits in alignment to the blueprint.
With comprehensive experience as a Business Architect or Senior Business Analyst background, you’ll have knowledge of designing business solutions in line with Blueprints and Target Operating models for large organisations, ideally in industries similar to Royal Mail, on £multi-million projects and programmes across both private and public sector organisations.
Working across multiple functions, particularly in the areas of Product Development, Sales and Order Management, Customer Service management, Logistics and Operations (e.g. transportation, production, engineering), you’ll utilise your broad, enterprise-wide view of businesses and possess varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.
With the ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organisation and to high-priority business issues, you’ll visualise and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture. Ideally with related professional qualifications, you’ll possess very strong experience modelling business processes, using a variety of tools and techniques, with exceptional communication skills and gravitas to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organisation; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualisations.
