Business Analyst

Reporting to:

Director of Insight and Business Development

Responsible for:

Providing first class analysis of the business across the company and maximising the impact of our systems

Working alongside:

Finance, sales, IT, Operations and all other departments

Role :

Reporting and analysis

  • Efficiently and accurately producing and developing all regular reports across the business - from monthly/quarterly KPI reporting and sales dashboards to bespoke analysis including annual range review, premium-on trade report, and carbon reporting
  • Managing and providing ad hoc analysis which drive sales, service or efficiencies and instigating new analysis/reporting to improve performance in conjunction with Director of Insight, Head of Finance, COO
  • Providing analysis and producing excel templates for budget modelling
  • Ensure the reporting databases are accurate and contain the relevant information to enable effective reporting
  • Analyse and evaluate company and customer performance versus the market, making use of appropriate external data sources

Systems development

  • Working with all business units and Head of Finance to drive the development of systems in conjunction with IT
  • Ensure staff in all departments have a good understanding of how to use the systems that they need to do their work efficiently and accurately
  • Gain understanding of the data cube which supports internal reporting and assist in its development.
  • Assist IT manager / Head of Finance with testing of upgrades and new systems.

Key requirements

(skills and experience):

  • Commercially astute with a good understanding of business processes
  • Exceptional IT skills particularly with knowledge of how systems work together
  • Respond to day to day queries relating to system problems or development
  • First class Excel skills,
  • Knowledge of SQL an advantage but not a prerequisite
  • Able to analyse multiple sources of data, understand the implications of findings, identify changes required and present this to non-technical staff
  • Experience with ERP systems (especially Microsoft Nav) an advantage
  • Proactive and able to understand business needs and take ownership of process improvements
  • Able to balance analytical rigour with commercial priorities/time pressures
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate to all levels across the company
