Building Surveyor - Kent
My client is looking for a Building Surveyor for a new role in an established & developing business who work mainly (but not exclusively) in the private sector (property reinstatement) industry. This role will see the successful post holder being an integral part of a small team in this successful contractor business; this will suit someone who is driven, motivated and looking to succeed in a role where they have the chance to progress, grow with the company and be rewarded for their efforts.
Job role and responsibilities
My client specialises in carrying out repairs to private domestic properties (and some commercial) as well as refurbishments and large tendered works projects. The works can range from £300 up to about £300k and will include anything from small bathroom/sanitary ware damage to larger escape of water, flooding and fire damage repairs & full house refurbishments. The business is also expanding into other areas (social housing, larger developments etc.)
- The role will involve the following;
- Visiting properties and meeting with the homeowner to undertake an initial survey
- Advise on repairs required and complete a full survey to produce a comprehensive scope of works
- Visiting properties to survey/scope in order to tender for large works projects
- Programming and planning the project for consideration
- Preparing CDM and other Health & Safety documentation
- Working closely with the Contracts Manager and Project Coordinator during the course of the project to ensure delivery in respect of timescales, cost, quality of works & customer/client expectation.
What skills/experience will you need?
For this role, the Building Surveyor will need to have a solid understanding of repair/refurbishment works on domestic properties, a trades background and experience having surveyed and scheduled works in either the private or public sector (contractor side).
Technical knowledge of domestic properties is essential along with a good understanding of the cost of repairs and length of time required by different trades in carrying out the repairs. You will also need excellent customer service & relationship management skills (internal & external clients), have good IT skills and have a full UK driving licence (car will be provided).
Knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM and asbestos legislation is required.
Ideally, you will have a recognised Building Surveying Qualification or membership to a professional body (i.e. MRICS, CIOB, ICE, RIBA etc.) but this is not essential.
In addition to the salary (£35 - 45k depending upon qualifications & experience) the successful Building Surveyor will be provided with a company car (which can also be used for personal use), pension, paid holiday etc. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm
