Building Surveyor - Major Works (Housing)
Location: London
Length: 6 months potentially ongoing
Status: Inside

A local council is seeking a Building Surveyor to focus on residential properties, to specify, manage and control routine and pre-designed planned works projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the contractor delivers to a high standard of quality and that time and cost is managed from inspection through to approval of payment
  • Meet with residents intending to carry out alterations to their home to assess and advise Housing Management
  • Manage Better Homes Internal/ Temporary Accommodation and Sheltered Housing capital works
  • Inspection and identification of the cause of building defects and the general maintenance of the property portfolio through reactive repairs and planned works
  • Manage contractors throughout works, signing off work once completed to standard
  • Monitor the deterioration or defects of a property and offer advice on repair work

Key Requirements:

  • RICS/ CIOB qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts, housing stock and Building Regulations
  • Substantial experience of monitoring programmes and managing planned maintenance of Housing Stock
  • Previous experience with residential property
