Building Craftsperson (Mason)

What it's like to work here

You will be based on the Lanhydrock estate working closely with other members of a small, friendly building team. You will also work on both the North and South coasts in some of the most beautiful areas Cornwall has to offer. In addition to the large Grade 1 listed buildings the National Trust also owns several farms, holiday cottages and residential houses that all require care and attention throughout the year. Your job role will be varied and interesting, often presenting unexpected challenges and giving you the opportunity to develop new skills.

What you'll be doing

Joining us as a Mason, you’ll provide a highly professional and practical building service to our historic mansions, houses and other buildings. You’ll use your practical, hands-on experience to ensure we can continue to conserve and maintain these beautiful places for future generations by providing the highest standards of skills. You’ll undertake conservation repairs, ensuring that the correct materials and methods are used. You'll be familiar and competent with traditional methods of mason repairs and will be confident making judgments on what repairs are needed.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you'll need to able to have;

  • Experience in project management
  • Competency in the use of portable electric power tools
  • Good practical knowledge of own trade, and that of other trades
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrable consultation skills of listening, building trust and acting to deliver a high quality service
  • Excellent customer service skills
