A Deaf Support Base attached to a mainstream Secondary School in South East London are seeking a Communication Support Worker to join their forward thinking team in supporting pupils with hearing impairments. This is a full time and long term role starting immediately.

The School are looking to appoint an experienced Communication Support Worker with or working towards BSL (British Sign Language) level 3 and above to work primarily with students using BSL in order to access a Secondary Curriculum. They will also consider a confident signer if you currently do not hold the BSL qualification.

The Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team are expanding to meet the communication needs of deaf pupils not only in the borough, but in the Resource Provision at the school too. You will be working as a member of the well-established Deaf Resource Base which cater for twelve deaf children, some of whom have additional needs. The provision is committed to an inclusive approach to education based on individual needs and is an integral part of the social community.

In order to be successful, you will need:

• BSL Qualification Level 2 minimum or relevant signing experience
• A minimum qualification of grade C in English and Maths at GCSE level
• A valid DBS certificate (we can support with your application)
• Previous experience of supporting pupils with Special Education Needs, desirable
