Location: Central London (WC)

Job Type: Permanent

Working Arrangements: Fortnightly 7-day shift pattern

Salary: £45-55,000pa plus bonus and benefits

Summary:

I am working with a highly reputable Broadcasting Service Provider who are on the lookout for a skilled and dedicated video engineer to join their TOC team.As a Network / Broadcast Engineer you will be responsible for, supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the technical operations of a set of integrated systems designed to monitor and deliver premium OTT video subscription service for a brand-new client. The client has ownership over the world’s largest content streaming platform. The service will include specific terrestrial networks and distribution systems. The ideal candidate will escalate to the customer’s network/video team as required. The perfect candidate should have an in-depth knowledge and of video systems and networking, fiber telco circuits as well as an understanding of CDNs and other components used in delivery of streaming video to consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • React to Operations escalations and error logs from network and video devices
  • Support network and video engineering tasks such as configuration of Ip Routing, Multicast, Cross-connect fiber, vDCM video, TAG Multiviewer, transcoders
  • Optimise network performance and video monitoring devices
  • Fine-tune alarm logs and workflow alarms for quick prognosis and recovery
  • Troubleshooting and then resolving network and broadcast equipment issues
  • Take part in technical service requests including preventive maintenance, upgrades, and circuit cutovers
  • Prepare method statements for maintenance clearly identifying the risks
  • Communicate with vendors and client for proactive route testing
  • Dispatching service vendor teams as necessary and coordinate the work of external vendor teams to complete works
  • Maintaining the network, escalating to customer networks team, as well as network performance monitoring and video defect analysis
  • Installing and identifying upgrades to the network and it’s components
  • Perform network troubleshooting and handling incoming network requests
  • Assisting with overall security and user access to the corporate network
  • Planning the network infrastructure for new applications
  • Deploying and maintaining recently procured network or systems equipment
  • Effectively communicate all support aspects to all levels of personnel in a support driven customer oriented manner
  • Maintain configuration standards documentation including internal, end-user procedures, and incident trouble tracking
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
  • Assisting in planning, scheduling, and executing installations, upgrades, and replacement projects
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
  • Knowledge of video compression (Synamedia/Harmonic/Ateme)
  • ETR 290 knowledge
  • Dektec probes
  • Bridgetech probes

Skills Required:

  • Around 1-3 years + experience in network or engineering support and maintenance
  • Knowledge of cloud-based environments
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of LAN/WAN operation, QoS protocols such as SRT, RTP, multicast
  • Must be able to work within tight timeframes and possess proven communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills while able to function in a team based environment
  • Available after-hours if necessary
  • The ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel

Skills Desired:

  • Knowledge of streaming video related networking
  • Associates or Bachelor degree within engineering or computer science preferred
  • CCNA or CCNP certification or equivalent level experience is a plus
  • Experience in the Media industry is a plus
  • Experience with Synamedia DCM, vDCM is a plus
  • Experience with various cloud web services is a plus
