Book Keeper for Exciting Charity

We are a new and exciting community development charity based in Barking, east London, looking for an experienced, part-time bookkeeper to join the team. Reporting to the Development Director and working closely with the Office Manager you will play a crucial role in the functioning of the organisation.

You will manage and process all the financial transactions for us working closely with the Development Director and our accountants as necessary.

Part-time: 2 days a week (16 hours)

30 days holiday per year (pro-rata)

Main duties include:

  • Managing all book-keeping functions on Xero

  • Reconciliation using Xero and online banking

  • Handling and processing of receipts, invoices, bills in Xero and ensuring these are paid on time

  • Coding of financial transactions in xero and through other means

  • Liaising with external accountants and auditors

  • Preparation of quarterly financial reports for Funders and Trustees

  • Assisting with preparing year-end reports working closely with the accountants

  • Processing VAT

  • Assist in the budgeting and financial forecasting of the organisation

  • Process monthly business charge card bills and staff expenses, ensuring that expenditure is correctly authorised and allocated

You will have the following skills:

  • Experience of using Xero is essential: you should be an advanced Xero user.
  • Good all round computer skills including Excel and the Google Suite of apps (sheets, drive and Gmail)

  • Good organisational skills & be able to prioritise your own workload under pressure

  • Be able to work on your own initiative

  • You will be solely responsible for this job role, so you will be need to be able to work on your own

  • Experience of working for a charity or non-profit is desirable.
