Our client is looking for an experienced laboratory-based bioreactor Scientist to join the Cell Culture Development team, this is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-growing environment.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Development and optimisation of bioreactor processes for producing monoclonal antibodies and novel biopharmaceuticals
Screening and evaluation of manufacturing cell lines using scale-down and bench-scale bioreactor systems
Conduct experiments, generate reports and presentations to support technical transfer of processes and methods to scale-up and GMP facilities
Setup and running of bioreactor systems
Carry out routine maintenance of cell lines
Author and contribute to operational documents, templates and reports within the Cell Culture Development team
Evaluate and implement new cell culture and bioreactor technologies
Preparation of cell culture media, feeds and reagents
Keep detailed records of activities and demonstrate good organisational skills
Support general laboratory upkeep as needed

NOTE: weekend work is an essential part of this role, which requires roughly 1 weekend per month with time given in lieu.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:
BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, ideally with relevant industrial experience
Proven track record with bioreactor systems including scale-down bioreactor systems such as ambr
Proven experience of bioreactor process development
Experience of bioreactor process scale-up and technology transfer
Experience of cell culture and aseptic techniques, ideally in an industrial setting
Experience in bioreactor process automation and data analysis
Experience of statistical modelling using software such as JMP or MODDE
Experience with bioreactor harvest and primary recovery techniques, ideally with mammalian cell culture

Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge and understanding of bioreactor control systems and operations
Knowledge of biochemistry and/or bioprocess engineering
Highly organised, able to prioritise work, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
High attention to detail, ability to multitask & good communication skills
Maintain a high standard of professionalism when representing the Company both internally and externally
Ability to work in a flexible, collaborative style with colleagues and teams within the company and with external CMOs
