Bid Manager

An experienced Bid Manager is sought by a leading non-profit organisation providing services that allow people with disabilities to live independently.

The Role:

As a Bid Manager you will be responsible for managing the bid process from start to finish, writing, preparing and submitting successful bid proposals to local authorities and Primary Care Trusts. Your day to day duties will include:

  • Assessing tenders against critical success factors
  • Market research on competitors and those likely to bid
  • Compiling and updating a bid library
  • Collection and compilation of statistical information
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of service activities of the organisation through liaising with various managers and fieldwork staff
  • Writing compelling bids and proof-reading final drafts
  • Contribute and assist with costing of service in line with service specifications
  • Co-ordinate responses to clarify questions
  • Co-ordinate robust implementation plans
  • Deliver presentations to tender panels (nationwide)
  • Work in partnership with the marketing manager to revise publicity material/general information
  • Flexibility to meet tight deadlines, particularly in regard to attending interviews and presentations.
  • Development and ongoing revision of publicity material and/or general information
  • You will also be part of the management team and be responsible for the continuing development of the Company. As such you are expected to attend management team meetings as required, usually on a bi-monthly basis.

The successful Bid Manager will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in bid writing
  • Educated to a level that indicates you have an excellent standard of written English with experience of writing Method Statements
  • Ability to take a leading role in the tendering process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of representing an organisation through presentations and meetings
  • Knowledge and experience of using tendering portals (e.g: Pro-contract, in-Tendhost)
  • Ability to remain calm and stay organised in a pressurised environment
  • Ability to travel nationally to attend tender presentations, with a clean valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office


  • £30,000 pro rata (£24,000 based on 30 hours)
