Management of Rail Engineering Bids

My client is one of the most prestigious names in rail engineering. They are a world class company with an engineering pedigree that extends over a hundred years. They have invested millions of pounds in UK facilities and infrastructure and they now wish to hire a Bid Manager to manage multi-million pound bids for the UK market.
The Bid Manager will work closely with the sales team to create winning bids and proposals for high value engineering programmes and services. He or she will evaluate tender documents, contribute to bid no bid decisions and provide project leadership for the bid team, drawing in technical and commercial resources as required. The Bid Manager will ensure that the bids produced are to the highest possible standard and include compelling win themes. He or she will develop bid strategies in line with business opportunities, keeping them under constant review, and will be actively involved with bid negotiations.
The successful candidate will have a background in the rail industry but may not currently be working in a bids environment, although any bids experience would be helpful. He or she could be working in project management or a commercial role and want to move into Bid Management. Applicants will need good project management skills, sound commercial acumen and will be highly customer-focused. Needless to say, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as well as proven negotiation skills.
