A large, long established UK Building and Civil Engineering company is now recruiting for a Bid Manager to join their civils bids team. At the forefront of the construction industry in NI for over 70 years, this contractor has successfully produced a number of multi-million pound projects across the UK and wider Europe. A subsidiary of CRH plc, they have a turnover in excess of £250m with over 500 employees. Continuously striving to develop excellence in all aspects of building and civil engineering they have established themselves as one of the most highly regarded contractors in the industry. They continue to expand and so now require a Bid Manager to lead tenders for new civils contracts across the UK, Ireland, and further afield. Your new role
Reporting to the Pre-construction Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for formulating the bid strategy and leading the civils bid team; ensuring the commercial, technical and bid submission elements are delivered on time and to the highest quality. You will be required to work with the Business Development team, Pre-construction Managers, Senior Delivery Managers, Senior Submissions Manager and other members of the operational and pre-construction team to secure a sustainable pipeline of work to meet the Company objectives and promote a continuous improvement ethos; capturing feedback, lessons learnt and the application of innovative thinking. The successful candidate, in conjunction with the senior management team, will apply a bid winning mentality, through a proven process driven approach, to all projects throughout the pre-construction phase. You will be required to cover England, Ireland and Wales region, travelling to the UK at least 3 days a week.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, and will have extensive knowledge of the construction industry. However, candidates without this level of education may be considered if they have suitable and sufficient experience in a managerial environment with demonstrable capabilities which have led to the award of construction contracts. You will have at least 10 years of experience in a similar post, and will have a proven experience of relationship building with client organisations and consultant representatives. You will possess strong technical and commercial acumen, effective verbal and written communication skills, and strong client facing skills to promote the company values to their clients.
