Banking Loans Officer - SME Banking - Greater London
As the Relationship Support Officer (RSO) your primarily responsible for assisting the Branch or Relationship Manager in effective client portfolio management; strong communication skills and the confidence to manage frequent client contact is a key requirement. You will become familiar with a specific client portfolio, develop an understanding of client requirements, plus knowledge of the Bank's range of products (Corporate/Commercial/SME Banking). You will provide support to the Branch/RM in the following core processes, Credit proposal processing, relationship facilitation, analysis/documentation and customer service and will liaise with Branch Operations Staff in execution of these duties. A key challenge in this role is to develop an understanding of client requirements, plus help the Branch/RM Foster professional relationships with the Bank's clients.
- Credit Proposal Preparation: Prepare various types of proposals for credit facilities. Conduct a thorough evaluation of financial data, transaction structure, balance sheets and income statements to determine the level of risk.
- Analyse client credit requirements: Client profile risk analysis, rational of request, credit risk analysis.
- Meeting clients to gain understanding of their business whereby developing strong relationships with them.
- Conducted due diligence via Experian, World Check, market checks to validate the authenticity of the client.
- Conducted inspection of Collateral properties.
- Credit Rating: Credit proposal to be evaluated independently based on assessment of parameters within the Bank’s credit grading system.
- Present the proposal to the credit committees and Boards.
- Provide Credit Recommendation to the credit committee to ensure risks are mitigated and adequate securities in place adhere to credit policy of the bank.
- Liaising with solicitors, surveyors and client. Negotiating loan terms with prospective clients.
- Reach out to the various external participants and internal departments of the bank.
- Investigating key issues and recommendations on credits facilities.
- Credit Support: Coordinate and prepare annual reviews.
- Audit and monitor existing portfolios of customers as per existing processes and adhere to AML and compliance guidelines.
- Proactively work with credit, operations and other functional specialists across different departments to satisfy customer needs, within risk parameters.
- Credit Monitoring: Maintain adequate procedures as set in credit procedures, spread sheets, registers, files, and storage to ensure all records are maintained and security documents are safely stored.
- Preparation of monthly reports / financial returns for presenting to the credit committee / senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Assists in audit and compliance activities. Daily review of the Overdraft Excess Report and the Overdraft.
- Provides routine support and advice to Retail Banking Operations as and when required.
