We are a specialist multidisciplinary Children’s Community Learning Disability Team (CCLDT) who are dedicated to meeting the needs of Children with Learning Disabilities and their families. There is strong multi-disciplinary working within the service and the contribution of psychological services staff is highly valued, both through the direct and indirect work that they do.
We are moving towards using Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) and the Solihull Approach as our primary therapeutic models. In addition there are opportunities to develop further therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Behavioural Family Therapy. Our team works closely with families, special schools and respite units to help improve the quality of life for children and their families.
This is an exciting time to be working in learning disability services within the framework of Transforming Care for children and as our team continues to develop.
CCLDT cover the whole of Coventry and Warwickshire with bases in Coventry, Nuneaton, Rugby, Leamington, and Stratford. This post will be working across South Warwickshire and is based at Orchard House in Leamington Spa. There may also be a need to provide some support and cover to the Coventry team.
Our team sits within the new Learning Disability and Autism directorate and has links with the large psychological services group both within the directorate and wider. As a result there is access to Special Interest Groups, annual Psychological Services conference and professional meetings with other Psychologists.
Successful applicants will receive excellent support and regular, good quality supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development in line with special interests and service objectives. We have well-established links with the Coventry and Warwick Doctoral Training courses in Clinical Psychology, providing core placements, teaching sessions and supervising doctoral research projects.
You will have a doctorate-level or equivalent BPS approved qualification in clinical psychology and be HCPC registered. The job will require travel across the Trust so car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport arrangements will be required to enable you to undertake the job. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
