Automotive Test Development Technician

Our client is an extremely reputable, British manufacturer of Vehicles supplied both nationally and internationally. They specialise in the design and manufacture of such Vehicles and are a leader in their respective market. They are currently experiencing a ramp up of work and are expanding their Engineering function across multiple sites in the UK to satisfy global demand.
Automotive Test & Development Technician (Electro - Mechanical / Electrical)
Overall Purpose
• Working within a dedicated team the role is to ensure that work requests generated by the Test & Development Engineers are carried out accurately and within the required time scales
• Responsible for managing workshop consumable items and their replacement as required

Main Tasks / Responsibilities
• To carry out work as detailed on assigned work sheets
• Record and reporting back all results, whilst maintaining liaison with relevant Development Engineers
• Health & Safety responsibility
• Be able to work under your own initiative with limit engineering information
• Maintain a tidy and organised working environment, ensuring all equipment is returned to designated locations
• To assist outside supplier to achieve supplier installation approval
• To report back any faults with Development vehicles or test equipment encountered during build and test to the Development Engineer
• Workshop consumable replacement control (Abrasives, Tools etc.)
• Stocked items replacement control (instrumentation, fittings, bolts etc.)
• Working with T&D Engineers carry out risk assessments
• Work sheets to be completed in the required time
• Ensure results and information are accurately recorded
• Use of the correct PPE and all work is carried out safely
• Propose and develop solutions to problems
• All items returned to correct location and labelled as necessary
• Carryout the required support work
• Discuss with the T&D Engineer a repair method and complete the repair
• Co-ordinate with the other T&D Technicians and raise the required purchase orders
• Complete risk assessment on new equipment and processes

Experience/Skills required
• Minimum of 5 years relevant background in automotive and/or commercial vehicle Engineering
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle system
• Basic workshop machine tool operation
• Knowledge on vehicle test and development
• Basic understanding of computers
• Ability to develop solutions to problems
• Hands on approach
• Good team player
• PCV Driving Licence
• Able to work the hours required to complete the relevant test work
• Able to work off site when required (limited)
