Job Title: Logistics Manager

Salary: Up to £55,000 + company car allowance + private healthcare + management

Location: Barton Under Needwood

Reporting To: General Manager

Responsible For: Customer Delivery OTIF, Logistics Operations, Materials Management, Service / Aftermarket

Overall Purpose / Scope of Position:

  • Ensuring sufficient parts and materials are available for production to complete sequence and non-sequence manufacture in line with customer demand.

  • Single point of contact for customer schedule transmission plus issue escalation / resolution.

  • Accountable for the safe and efficient logistics operations.

  • Expertise in material management to ensure zero stock outs, economic on-hand stock levels, and minimal measured stock loss

Key Objectives:

  • Deliver finished material to customers in line with their scheduled call off; on time, in full, and to packaging specification

  • Liaise with customers with respect to delivery performance measures and reporting (Speedy, SIM, MMOG, SDAM)

  • Champion the customer on plant to mitigate delivery performance demerits. Problem solve the root cause for any demerit allocations and work with customer to resolve

  • Lead the physical logistics operation across a balanced agenda covering safety, quality, cost, training, and delivery performance

  • Coach standardisation and rigor into the physical logistics operation to avoid anomalies. Where significant issues do arise utilise post-it / 8D tool to problem solve and mitigate repeat.

  • Undertake guardianship for inventory accuracy across plant. Oversee the correct and accurate consumption of material and challenge internal teams when low compliance. As part of this undertake annual stock counts plus continuous cycle counting.

  • Manage the service / after-market part business for plant, ensuring stock accuracy and that service orders are supplied to customer OTIF. Maintain visibility and resolve any stock excess or obsolescence. Track the run-down of plant’s commitment to supply aftermarket parts by vehicle program.

  • Accountable for agreeing and managing Logistics department budget and controlling costs. In particular spend on transport, material handling equipment, overtime, and special transport.

  • Champion the investment and implementation of system / SAP enhancements on plant. Seek engagement from HQ to improve systems to aid in greater stock visibility across plant

  • Oversee the implementation of GA systems integration (SP)

  • Ownership for plant transport operation, covering sequence delivery fleet plus inbound material collection resource. Control safety, timeliness, and cost.

  • Engagement of customer and supply base to ensure packaging specifications are to standard and optimised. Where breaks in the availability of packaging exist utilise problem solving to resolve

  • Ensure maintenance of material handling equipment and racking.

  • Ensure processes are robust and documented in line with GA SP, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 / ISO18001 requirements

Key Result Areas:

  • 100% material availability for internal production process

  • 100% on time delivery to the customer

  • Actual spend in line with budget targets

  • Nil majors for Audit pass GA SP, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 audit

  • All scorecard metrics accurately reported and demonstrably in control

Qualifications / Educational requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent

Job Skills:

  • Physical Logistics expertise

  • Materials Management expertise

  • Employee development and coaching

  • Lean tools and problem-solving techniques

  • SAP MRP

  • Commercial acumen

Experience:

  • Proven track record in manufacturing and logistics, warehouse management and material flow

  • JIT/FMCG background

  • Exposure to high volume automotive manufacturing is desirable

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge

  • Experience of dealing with an Automotive OEM (preferably JLR and Toyota).
