The Team Manager Automation Services will line manage, guide and mentor the Automation team to successfully deliver and operationally support the delivery of software automation of infrastructure and workflow to enable the organisation to continuously improve the quality and speed of service delivery, documenting and enabling all areas of the department to step away from repetitive tasks and concentrate on delivery of IT Services. Align development and maintenance processes with departmental standards and help evolve these standards to include automation where it can add value. They must create and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels who use the team's services and/or who govern the data that is held in them
*Lead and manage the Automation Team ensuring that a positive collaborative team environment is fostered and maintained.
*Using project management and technical lead expertise, produce plans which ensure the success of the automation services. Engender a low-concurrency, high-velocity delivery culture within teams and the management of projects, seeking to deliver value to the users in the shortest sustainable time.
*Working with key stakeholders, develop a strategic roadmap for the introduction and delivery of automation services which aligns with changes in both the technical landscape and the business needs.
*Develop and maintain a lifecycle plan for all services that the team runs.
*Contribute, and encourage others to contribute, to communities of best practice (e.g. testing, security, user experience) in the development of policies and procedures which aim to showcase best practice across different delivery streams.
*Experience automating processes and infrastructure delivery and knowledge of the software design patterns that a senior software delivery team will use
*Proven experience of managing teams of people to define and deliver departmental and organisational scale outcomes
*Significant experience of developing and managing enterprise scale services that are extremely granular and diverse, meeting needs of a whole organisation.
*Experience in a technical lead role in the implementation of complex and significant enterprise wide services.
*Ability to plan estimate and keep track of major change projects with an appreciation of the long-term issues.
*Capacity and resource planning skills such that a team can consistently deliver their objectives.
*Experience of budgetary planning.
*Experience of leading and managing a highly technical team ensuring a safe a productive work environment.
*Demonstrable ability to present your ideas and your area to a wide audience.
