Our client, a top 10 professional services firm, is growing rapidly and looking for a qualified accountant with recent experience in Audit Practice (within last 2 years) to join their Audit & Assurance team in Bristol. The role is interesting and varied, with lots of direct client interaction and team management. They offer great staff development, with opportunities for progression and flexibility as standard, with multiple options for flexibility around a full (eg home/office split, 5 days compressed into 4) or part time (eg 3/4 days, 5 days school hours) role. They offer a salary of £44-55k, to be pro rata for hours worked.

This role is in the Audit & Assurance team of a top 10 professional services business.

This role is based in the Bristol office where you will join a team of c. 50-60 Audit professionals, with a social and friendly atmosphere.

About the Role

The primary responsibility of the Audit Manager will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients. They will also provide assistance to the Partners in both client work, the management of the group and on occasions the wider firm. On occasion they may also become involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.

This role would suit a qualified accountant who is currently in practice or has been in practice then in industry for a maximum of 2 years since.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a major point of contact within the firm for the client together with the Partner. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients.

  • Responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of clients.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at senior levels, being a principal point of contact throughout the year. Develop a strong commercial understanding of the clients’ businesses.

  • Complete assignments within agreed budgets and timescales and identify opportunities for additional billings.

  • Ensure assignments are staffed with the appropriate mix of knowledge and skills required.

  • Ensure that the firm’s risk management and quality control procedures are adhered to at all times.

  • Identify and recognise business and sales opportunities with new clients, and inform the Partner as appropriate.

  • Support Partners and Senior Managers in the development of new business relationships and business proposals through high level sales and marketing activity.

  • Support Partners with the implementation and communication of any new business strategy for existing clients, target clients and the internal business.

  • Recruit, retain, develop and motivate employees, which includes participating in graduate recruitment, ensuring job appraisal documentation is completed within deadlines and ensuring appropriate objectives and development plans are in place for counselees.

  • Work as part of management team with other Audit Managers within the business group (e.g. resource planning, merit rate meetings and efficiency gains)

  • Act as an ambassador of the firm, participating in office marketing events, keeping abreast of the wide range of service the firm offers.

  • Act as a role model for trainees and executives.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Our client are looking for a senior experienced hire who can demonstrate an enthusiasm for working in the world of accounting and finance. You should be a qualified accountant with experience in audit practice (within the last 2 years) and managing teams.

In particular, they are looking for:

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • ACA/ICAS qualified or equivalent

  • Educated up to degree level or CTS

  • Previous experience of managing people

  • Good working knowledge of UK and International GAAS, IFRS, UK GAAP and Financial Reporting requirements.

  • Working knowledge of financial products, firm services, issues regarding advice and regulation and compliance, including anti-money laundering.

  • Experience of systems/controls testing as well as substantive auditing, including consolidations, group audits, statutory accounts and disclosures.

  • Project Management experience.

'Nice to have’ experience

  • Experience auditing international groups.
