My client is a specialist financial research firm that deliver a unique decision-support service which enables financial institutions to develop, validate, and execute better business and technology strategies.
Since 2001 they have established their credibility within the market and have become a trusted adviser to CEOs, CIOs and their executive teams, offering research and benchmarking for the world's leading financial institutions, helping organisations grow, compete and operate more effectively.
They are a global firm which has its headquarters in London and regional offices in New York and Singapore.
I am now looking to recruit a graduate with a passion for finance to join them as a graduate associate in their London office. This role is to work in their FinTech control tower practice area. The FinTech control tower is a research framework developed by my client which identifying initiatives, technologies and companies that matter most in today’s FinTech ecosystem and assesses their impact. They launched a client research portal in 2017.
Associates support the delivery of client-facing research projects focusing on FinTech topics such as payments, lending and crowdfunding, blockchain, artificial intelligence, InsurTech, digital wealth management and others.
This role involves both working with quantitative data as well as conducting field research in the industry. You will be responsible for accurately conducting research, handling and rigorously examining data from a variety of sources and using the data to build and test complex market hypotheses. Associates collect data through a combination of desk based research, interviews with prominent FinTech firms, banks and other financial and non-financial institutions and from conference and event findings.
Associates are encouraged to take responsibility for deliverables ranging from periodic research activities to bespoke client projects. You will assist with the management of individual client accounts and be involved in the development of internal initiatives. The business prides themselves on the strong relationships they forge with clients and as the role develops you will have an increasing level of direct client exposure, which in many cases will be very senior people with in client businesses.
You would be expected to play an active role in all aspects of the delivery lifecycle from the initial data collection, through to analysis, visualisation and communication of the findings. This makes the role unique and allows for a great deal of diversity on the job and will allow you to develop a well-rounded skill set.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in a quantitative or science subject, from a top university with a 2:1 or better
- Genuine interest in the financial services industry
- Exceptional analytical abilities demonstrable from either university work or employment. Including the interpretation of large data sets and deciphering the findings into clear messages and visuals
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- An entrepreneurial and creative mind-set
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong MS Excel
- Minimum 6 months’ work experience in a professional environment
- Relevant work experience/internship in consultancy, market research or financial services
- Experience using SQL, VBA , Python or R
