The Associate Director (Structural Engineering) will assist our client company’s Directors in the proper technical and financial management of the business, its clients and staff, through the effective creation and management of a new team to be based in its established Birmingham office. This new team will supplement our client company’s existing structural and civil engineering teams based in its other offices.

The Associate Director Role
The company are looking for a highly capable and ambitious Chartered or near-Chartered Structural Engineer to join their well-established Birmingham office team with the ability to support and promote business growth. The Birmingham office is currently MEP in its specialism with its civil and structural engineering services being offered from the company’s other Midlands office locations. The company is looking to make this senior Associate Director appointment within its business to lead the introduction of the structural and civil engineering offering from this location.
As an Associate Director (Structural Engineering), this is an important role for the company and it will offer a career opportunity for the successful candidate to develop within the business. Ultimately, the company is looking to shadow and supplement the existing Board as they move to a phase of succession planning and there is a real opportunity for someone with drive and ambition to progress into a Director position.
The Successful Associate Director
The person must be able to lead and coordinate various sub-teams within the business, which are multi-faceted, to satisfy the varied requirements of the project and its client. Leadership capabilities are essential and experience in a similar role will be desirable but not essential as full support and training will be provided. The company provides independent, confidential, external business coaching support to mentor and guide individuals on defined progression and career paths within its organisation. Technical ability should be considered to be a given requisite and Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer status is essential.
The company benefits from an extensive and high-profile client portfolio, many of which have had a long relationship with the company. The role of the Associate Director includes the successful management and development of such client relationships and sales and marketing activities to extend that portfolio, particularly within the Midlands area. The company has a dedicated marketing team that provides support to the company’s senior management team in its business development actions, sales activities and promotion of the business.
